One of last years Sparrow chicks
Its been a long wait but this morning our first lambs were born and we had twins. I didn't get too close as they were only a few hours old but you can just about make out one little face above the others body. Hopefully tomorrow they will be up and playing so I can get some better photo's. I wonder if we'll have anymore tonight? I can't wait to see them up and playing tomorrow. Back in the garden its been quite busy. One of last years Sparrow Chicks was sitting on a branch showing off his emerging adult feathers when I noticed an adult male Sparrow squawking his head off behind. At first the romantic in me though it was his dad, just keeping an eye out for him but then I realised it was a fully fledged adult male trying to protect his territory from this youngster. The youngster was scared to move as every time he tried the adult would swoop at him. This went on for ages until finally the little 'un managed to get away. I managed to save a mouse or shrew today. I spotted 'Cheeky' the stray with something in his paws, luckily I managed to distract him by banging on the window and making funny noises, long enough for whatever was under his paw to get away. The Siskins have disappeared? I ran out of Niger Seeds for one day! and they've shown their contempt by leaving, every last one of them! The mystery 'Bunting' bird has gone too. But at least in their place I have some lammikins to watch. Oh I can't wait to see them running about tomorrow.
