One of last years Black Bird chicks. Another sunny day, how lucky are we! The garden has been bustling with activity but I didn't manage to get a photo of the best thing today. Alan was sat up in the summer house when a Black Bird came whizzing by followed closely by a Sparrow Hawk who's wings almost clipping Alan's ears. The Black bird some how managed to make a bold turn towards the roof of the house and luckily escaped. On a more sedate angle the Woodpeckers where here, both are now using the suet square not just the male. A pair of Dunnock (I think) visited today and were acting very peculiar on top of the hedge. Both were flapping there wings just like chicks do to their parents for food. It was quite fascinating watching them and I haven't a clue what they were doing unless it's part of a Dunnock mating ritual? Who knows. This Robin was loving the remnants of my egg custard from lunch.
Well I'm off for a few days now. My cat sitter will have the joy of watching the wildlife in the garden all to himself this week. He's a keen birder too so will probably have lots to tell me when I get back. All the best x
