Gosh I feel so lucky. Two of my most favorite British birds visited the garden today and even stayed around long enough for photographs. My mum stayed last night and she couldn't wait to tell me she'd seen a beautiful Greater Spotted Woodpecker first thing this morning. I had to wait until this afternoon until he returned but it was worth it. Its been such a long time since they've visited the garden. Winter must be nearly here. 
Then as we were waiting, this gorgeous Goldfinch turned up. Another bird I've not seen in many many months.
